Am I at Risk for Gallstones?

Did you know that about one in 13 Americans – more than 25 million – are affected by gallbladder disease? The gallbladder is a pear-shaped organ located just below your liver whose purpose is to store bile. You see, your liver produces bile, a substance that enables your body to break down and absorb fats. Your gallbladder stores excess bile and releases it when you eat a meal containing fats that need to be digested.
