What is a Sigmoidoscopy?

A sigmoidoscopy is procedure that allows your doctor to get a detailed view of the lower part of your colon and the inside of your rectum. The colon is another word for the large intestine, where food is further broken down for the body to absorb water and nutrients. The remaining waste is formed into stool where it exits the body through the rectum.
